Buttock lifting is performed in response to massive weight loss or other loss of tissue elasticity that results in the sagging or drooping appearance of the buttocks. The goal of a butt lift is to restore the pleasing contour and tone in the buttock area.
Candidates for Butt Lift
The best way to determine if a butt lift is the right procedure to help you achieve your cosmetic goals is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Call Dr. Robert Feins today at 603-466-8406 to schedule your personal consultation and get all of your questions answered about the butt lift procedure.
In general, you may be a good candidate for a butt lift if you are:
- At or near your ideal weight
- Maintaining a stable weight (for at least 3-6 months)
- In good general health and a non-smoker
- Dissatisfied with the sagging appearance of your buttocks
For patients who have undergone a major weight loss (many through bariatric surgery), they find that they are thrilled with how light their body feels, but are less than thrilled with how much extra skin and tissue is sagging on their smaller form.
Other patients may simply be experiencing the unwanted effects of aging and gravity and wish to restore the more youthful appearance of their figure.
In consultation with Dr. Feins, you can discuss your reasons for choosing a butt lift and determine whether it is the right procedure to help you achieve your goals and regain your body confidence.
The Butt Lift Procedure and Recovery
The butt lift procedure is designed to remove sagging skin and excess fat from the buttocks while lifting and re-contouring the area for a more pleasing overall appearance.
The procedure is performed by making an incision from hip to hip along the lower back. The discreet placement of this incision allows for it to remain hidden in most clothing. Once the incision is made, excess tissue is removed along with excess skin in the buttocks area. The remaining skin is re-placed to elevate the buttocks and outer thighs.
During your initial recovery, you will likely experience some pain and swelling; however, this discomfort can be well managed with prescription medications and compression garments, which you should wear for several weeks following surgery to reduce swelling and aid recovery.
You should be able to return to most of your normal daily activities within several weeks of surgery, and you should be able to experience your full results within about six months.
A butt lift procedure is often performed in combination with a body lift for those patients who have undergone a massive weight loss and are looking for full body rejuvenation.
